A DISPLACED PROFILE
A Displaced Profile delves into story telling through portraiture. Using prints of the subject (Lin), I laid, wove and stitched threads and yarns; a physical connection to Lin’s love of textiles and her first class honours degree in textile design. The narrative is brought together with texture and colour – visual representations of her displacement, her creative spirit, and her ongoing struggle toward self-acceptance. The series serves as a poignant exploration of Lin’s internal world: one of survival, resilience, and the slow painful unravelling to reclaim her identity after years of emotional turmoil.
